STUDY ON THE ELEVATION AND REHABILITATION OF THE SIDI SAAD DAM

Client : General Directorate of Dams and Major Hydraulic Works (Tunisia)

Date : 2021 - 2024

Funding : KFW

Partner : ARTELIA

Description

The project involves strengthening the embankment and the wall (south bank of the gully). The wall on the right bank has been subject to observed movements in the direction of the gully since its construction, causing numerous disorders (cracks along the crest of the wall and extension cracks in the natural terrain).

The project also involves increasing the storage capacity of the dam. The objective of increasing the storage capacity of the reservoir by raising the dam meets the needs to optimize the management of water resources for irrigation, to anticipate the impact of irreversible natural phenomena such as climate change and the progressive silting of the reservoir: "the raising must make it possible to store an additional volume of between +100 and +150 Mm3".
