STUDY FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE OPERATION OF THE CHOUTRANA PURIFICATION STATION

Client : National Sanitation Agency (ONAS)

Date : 2013 - 2015

Description

The Choutrana complex, which includes the Côtière nord water treatment plants, Choutrana 1 and Choutrana 2, currently treats a daily water volume of 165,000 m3/d distributed as follows:

  • 45,000 m3/d treated at the North Coastal WWTP with 300% exceeding of its hydraulic capacity,
  • 80,000 m3/d treated at the level of the Choutrana 1 WWTP, equivalent to 100% of its hydraulic capacity;
  • 40,000 m3/d treated at Choutrana 2, equivalent to 100% of its hydraulic capacity.

As part of the sharing of wastewater between the Choutrana 1 station and the Côtière Nord station and in order to relieve the latter until its scheduled disconnection after completion of the transfer works from the Tunis West pole to the new El Attar pole, ONAS plans to transfer the excess volume of wastewater from the North Coast WWTP (i.e. 30,000 m3 / d) to the Choutrana station by building a new pumping station. As a result, the overall volume of wastewater treated at the Choutrana 1 station will be more than 110,000 m3 / d, in fact exceeding its capacity.

Services provided

  • Analysis of basic data and assessment of the quantities of wastewater to be treated until 2031.
  • Diagnosis of treatment structures and equipment.
  • Verification of the operation of the choutrana I WWTP to cope with additional inputs.
  • Estimation of necessary investments.
