Project description

The Laâroussia canal was built in the 1950s as part of the development of the Lower Medjerdah Valley. The construction carried out in two stages:

  1. a first section includes the common trunk, the southern branch and a first section of the northern branch (up to the vicinity of the town of Tebourba), carried out between 1948 and 1954.
  2. a second section comprising the northern branch of the city of Tebourba up to the plain of Chougafa, and carried out from 1957.

The total length of the canal is 54 km, including 40 km of open-air canal and 14 km of underground sections. The canal represents the main artery of the hydraulic network of the Lower Medjerda Valley, and allows a total surface area of ​​25,000 ha to be irrigated with a flow rate of 13 m3 / s by means of the multiple intake structures arranged all along the canal. its 54 km.

The canal, like all the infrastructure in the Lower Medjerda Valley, is in a state of disrepair, and the purpose of the project is precisely the rehabilitation of a first priority section.

Description of the services provided

  • Phase 1 : verification of the diagnosis of the main canal, evaluation of the detailed preliminary design studies (APD) and final development of the variant of the detailed preliminary design (APD) selected for the rehabilitation of the entire canal.
  • Phase 2 : carrying out the execution studies, preparing calls for tenders (DAO) for the priority phase only, support to the CRDA in the evaluation of the bids from the companies responsible for carrying out the rehabilitation works for the priority phase.
  • Phase 3 : supervision and control of the works to be carried out by the companies on behalf of the CRDA.
