STUDY OF THE DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN FOR THE CENTER-WEST ECONOMIC REGION

The National Territorial Development Master Plan (SDATN) recommended the creation of a Development Plan for each of the six economic regions of Tunisia, including the Center-West region. This economic region includes the governorates of Kairouan, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid and covers approximately 14% of Tunisian territory for a population of around 15%. With low urbanization, it remains a rural area with a very dispersed habitat.

The SDARE is a consensual planning document which is part of a long-term perspective to guide and facilitate the choice concerning in particular the location of major facilities, infrastructures and services of general interest, the strengthening of the urban framework, etc

This study was carried out in three phases:

1. Phase 1: Diagnostic report, problem and general orientations
2. Phase 2: Development strategy and program plan
3. Phase 3: summary document, cartographic atlas
