TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE PGIF II (INTEGRATED FOREST MANAGEMENT PROJECT)

Project Description :

As part of its project (PGIF II, integrated forest management project phase II), the DGF requested technical assistance from 4 experts to carry out certain project activities and who are:

• The development of Community Development Plans with a view to their execution and the monitoring-evaluation of certain other PDCs being implemented, for the benefit of forest communities located in 5 governorates of northern Tunisia (Zaghouan, Siliana, Le Kef, Beja and Jendouba),
• The study of forest operations based on existing forest management plans with a view to their implementation within the framework of the DGF's forest development programs,
• The study of the development plan for ecomuseums in certain protected areas of the governorates concerned,
• The study of the development plan for protected areas in the same governorates to ensure the preservation of natural resources in these areas.

Services provided:

The team of experts mobilized as part of this technical assistance mission to the DGF includes 4 profiles:

• Agro-economist expert: he developed Community Development Plans in 3 areas and monitored the implementation of other PDCs in progress,
• Expert in forest management: he carried out a diagnosis of forest areas in forests in five governorates of the North West and proposed an action plan for management in the priority forests of these regions.
• Ecomuseum expert: has drawn up a development plan for the ecomuseum of the Djebel Serj National Park in Siliana and a development plan for the ecomuseum of the Oued Zeen National Park in Aïn Draham.
• Biodiversity expert: he carried out a diagnosis of the Oued Zeen National Park in Aïn Draham and the Kef Errai Nature Reserve in the Rouhia delegation (in Siliana), and provided guidance proposals for their development.
