FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE SANITATION OF RURAL LOCALITIES IN TUNISIA

Project Description :

The project consisted in carrying out, on behalf of the National Sanitation Office, the feasibility study for the sanitation of 32 rural localities. This project is part of the 4th tranche of the ONAS Rural Sanitation Program (PAR 4).

PAR4 responds to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and more particularly to SDG6: PAR4 aims to improve the sanitation service for a population of around 125,500 inhabitants in 2018, including 94,700 for the 29 localities and 30,700 for the 7 localities from PAR3. PAR 4 provides for the construction of 11 treatment units, 47 pumping stations, 35,572 connection boxes, 102 km of transfer network and 336 km of collection network.

Services provided

The results of this study were as follows:

  1. The realization of a diagnosis in the localities targeted by the program (36 localities)
  2. Analysis of the expected impacts of the program
  3. Establishment of the conditions for the financial and economic viability of the investments planned under the program
  4. The evaluation of the environmental and social impacts of the program and the national capacities to manage them in the form of an Environmental and Social Management Framework.
  5. Assessment of ONAS's capacity to carry out the program adequately and to operate the structures efficiently
