STUDY ON THE PROTECTION AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE BELVEDERE PARK

Description

This development project covers two entities: the historic garden created in 1892 and currently being classified and the second Belvedere, created in 1967 by the Municipality of Tunis on the upper part of the Belvedere.

The purpose of this study is to identify the rehabilitation works and the means and measures necessary for the protection and enhancement of the historical, ecological, landscape and socio-cultural heritage of Belvedere 1 (historic garden) and to propose layout plans for its adjoining space, Belvédère 2, and the priority works to be carried out.

The study covered different themes: the architectural and landscape components of the park, the ornamental vegetation and the reforestation forest, the vegetation cover, the hydrographic network, and the conservation of water and soil; accessibility issues and car traffic on the outskirts, parking management for visitors and residents, road plans, plans for cycle and pedestrian paths, etc.
